CHALLENGING times go hand in hand with stress. And stress, as we know, goes hand in hand with gloominess and physical illnesses. Isuzu Phils. Corp. firmly believes in the importance of a stress-free life. The diesel authority also believes that one effective way of getting rid of stress is to regularly embark on leisurely and comfortable drives outside of the city. And the best vehicle to make such restful trips possible is the 2009 Isuzu Alterra.
Demonstrating the calming effects of countryside road trips through a campaign called “Great Drive, Great Life,” Isuzu brought three groups of journalists on separate trips outside Metro Manila using the 2009 Alterra. First batch drove to the Splendido Taal Residential Golf and Country Club in Laurel, Batangas, on Feb. 12. The media group also passed by Taal Vista Hotel in Tagaytay on their way back to the metropolis. A second and third batch cruised to Tagaytay Highlands on Feb. 19 and 26.
“With these out-of-town trips, we want to show Filipinos living in the city that they need not go very far to take a break from their very busy schedule and maintain a stress-free life,” says IPC President Keiji Takeda. “Also, we want to show that the role that a vehicle plays in helping achieve this goal is very crucial. Anyone can go out of town, but if they don’t bring with them a comfortable, entertaining and spacious ride, the concept of escaping the city will be difficult to achieve. Because a poor vehicle performance- and features-wise will only feel just as stressful as the urban environment they’re trying to get away from.”
Isuzu proposes the 2009 Alterra as the ideal getaway vehicle, fully capable of making its occupants totally forget about the city. The power of its 3.0-liter 4JJ1-TC common-rail direct-injection diesel engine is more than adequate for uphill climbs and quick overtaking sprints. Its efficiency translates to significant savings throughout the entirety of the journey, no matter how far the destination. And its compliance with Euro-3 emission standards means only clean, breathable air will be inhaled by the Alterra’s vacationing passengers.
Making the trip truly complete are high-resolution 7-inch headrest-mounted LCD monitors and a 5.1 surround audio-video entertainment system. This in-car entertainment package features an integrated audio-video console box that allows backseat passengers to plug in various gadgets like MP3 players and video-game consoles. With the five-star feel of an aircraft’s business-class section, impatient children will no longer pester their parents during the long road trip.
Of course, visually appealing sights contribute to a tranquil mindset. In this regard, the 2009 Alterra boasts new exterior touches that are sure to be pleasing to the eye. The chromed door handles, chromed power-folding side mirrors with integrated turn lights, new-design circular tailpipe finisher, and new 16-inch six-spoke alloy wheels blend perfectly well to provide an aesthetic respite from the visual pollution of the city.
The 2009 Isuzu Alterra treated its passengers to an opulent ride from Bellevue Hotel in Alabang all the way to the Splendido Taal Residential Golf and Country Club in Batangas (first batch) and Tagaytay Highlands (second and third batches). The award-winning SUV made easy work of the route’s interesting mix of tarmac and unpaved roads, as well as of upward and downward slopes.
After the road trip, the journalists had a much-needed massage. According to Isuzu, this was a subtle analogy because just like a relaxing spa, the Alterra also offers its occupants a soothing experience on the road.
The 2009 Isuzu Alterra is a great vehicle not only for executive use in the city but also for recreational activities outside of it. But most importantly, the Alterra is the ultimate companion for those quiet escapes from the urban environment. Its class-leading entertainment features, engine performance and efficiency, and generous cabin space make up the right formula for a stress-free getaway—something we all need these days.
